Just Being Honest: New and Expanded Edition by Dave Magill

Just Being Honest: New and Expanded Edition by Dave Magill

Dave's reflection on the joys and struggles of 'trying to be Christian' provides a good starting point from which to explore the trials and triumphs of our own Christian lives. It is only when we are honest about these things that we will begin to grow spiritually.
If we're honest, most of us have questions, observations and maybe even concerns about how we live out Christianity both collectively and individually.

In this book, with courage and integrity, Dave explores many such reflections based on both his collective and individual experiences of engaging with Jesus. Unpacking many significant and profoundly liberating conclusions, this book is both refreshing and helpful for those who wish to go beyond 'churchism' and pursue Jesus.

Provocative, jarring and curiously inspiring. Dave's insightful observations about ordinary people following an extraordinary God will stretch your thinking, expand your horizons and challenge you to be a little more honest with yourself.
Jose Cummings, UK and Ireland Director of Exodus Discipleship
I don't just like this book. I love it! Dave writes like a wild brush wielding poetic artist, freely painting scenes with strokes of seemingly simple theology that connect deeply.

Don't be deceived by the small nature of this book. While the chapters are short they are dense, jam packed full of authentic Jesus following wisdom. Dave's style of writing carries hefty weight and insight that refreshes the soul and tires the neck from too much nodding in agreement! When reading Dave's book on a busy train I found myself agreeing and connecting with the themes so much so that I was saying phrases out loud like 'that's right!' And 'yep, amen to that!' Much to the amusement of my fellow commuters.

The way Dave forms theological pictures is unique.  My favourite has to be: 'Repentance is the gateway to grace, the key to restoration and the fanfare of freedom.' He then illustrates this point by describing a bottle of wine...

Well, pop open this corker of a book and you won't regret it, you will learn more about being a growing disciple of Jesus.
