Being Sent: Jonah’s mission, God’s mission, Our mission by Tim Carter
Reflecting on the first eighteen months of Pioneer Ministry based in a commuter suburb of Telford, Tim found the book of Jonah to be a rich mine of raw materials.
In Being Sent we are invited to join Tim in pondering on the mission that Jonah was sent on, in order that we might more fully grasp God's heart for mission and so hear our own call more clearly and respond to it more obediently. |
What we (properly) see in scripture depends on two things - what is there to be seen, and the circumstances from which we view the text. This is an insightful reading of Jonah from a pioneer's perspective. Tim opens up the Old Testament story as a missional tool. And so he should. The Bible is a missional book. I recommend this warmly. |
I continually re-read Jonah for myself because it reveals so much to us about God and his mission. This book really helpfully enables Christians to get into the book and then imagine what this might mean for their own lives and mission. Don't run away from Gods call for you but allow this book to resource you for God’s future. |
Tim has written an imaginative and thoughtful book drawing out mission imperatives from the book of Jonah. The 'reluctant evangelist' provides him with a biblical template and principles for his own church planting ministry in Telford. |
